Getcoins is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This information may be used to verify your identity as required by law under Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing legislation. We may provide the information you provide to identity verification services or to our Customer Support team to enable them to verify your identity under Anti Money Laundering policies and to protect you and other users from fraud and other illegal activities. We may also be required to provide your personal information if requested by a government agency or law enforcement.

Getcoins will use your information to assist in managing your ongoing requirements such as processing transactions, emailing receipts, troubleshooting any problems, prevent or investigate potential illegal activities, and the continued improvement of the Getcoins platform.

We may contact you electronically unless you notify us that you do not wish to receive electronic communications. We may use your contact details to send you service updates, newsletters or articles or information regarding products and services that may be of interest to you. You have the option to unsubscribe by notifying us at any time.

 

What if you don’t provide some information to us?

If you do not provide the required information or if some information is missing Getcoins may be unable to verify your identity sufficiently resulting in you being unable to use our services.

 

How your personal information is protected?

We strive to maintain the relevance, reliability, accuracy, completeness and currency of the personal information we hold and to protect its privacy and security.

Your personal information will only be held for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to comply with any applicable legal reporting or document retention requirements Information collected from you is held in highly secure data centres operated by a third party. These datacentres have been audited against key international standards ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018 certifications and PCI DSS7 compliance. The system of controls addresses the privacy protection of customer content. The access of this information is controlled via access management, identity, permissions and security credentials. Access to personal information is limited to authorised employees of Getcoins for the purposes of carrying out duties to support customers.

 

Disclosure of personal information

Getcoins does not sell, trade, or provide your personal information to others. We may be required to disclose your information to law enforcement agencies in Australia if requested. We may also disclose information to third party suppliers such as email services and third-party identification services. We will not provide your information to unless required to do so by law or under some other circumstances which the Privacy Act permits.

If you wish to amend your personal information

If you send us a written request and sufficient information that allows identification of the information, we will disclose the information that we hold about you. If any personal information we hold is inaccurate, irrelevant, out of date or incomplete you can have it amended by submitting a support request from our platform. We may be required by law to hold historical personal information you have submitted. In some limited cases we may be unable to make a correction or provide information, in these cases you will be notified as soon as possible the reasons for refusal.
